Meath County Board hosted a social day yesterday in Navan Pitch and Putt Club and what a success it was. The day started with a three ball scramble and as a result of having 93 players, we had to split this into two and only play 18 holes in each section. Thankfully the weather held up and a most enjoyable game was had by all. Following the scramble there was a lovely meal for over one hundred people which was catered by Seamus Connolly Catering and they looked after us exceptionally well.

The prize winners for the scramble on the day were:

18 Nett: Teresa Fagan (Royal Meath), Willow McNally & Dermot Wogan (both Stackallen)

18 Gross: Louise O'Meara (Dunshaughlin), John Farnan (Skryne) & Sean Downes Jnr (Stackallen)

Most Pitch & Putt: Brona Darby, Lilly Mulvaney (both Ratoath) & Seamus McAuley (Rathfeigh)

Hole in One: Liam Anderson & Niall Winters Jnr (both Trim)

The purpose of the occasion was to make a few very worthy presentations. Below is a run through of the awards presented on the night:

Una Brennan (Ratoath) received a bouquet of flowers for her contribution to Pitch and Putt

The Inter Gents Inter County Team who won the Leinster Inter County Championships in Lucan in August were presented with a framed picture of the winning team which was sponsored by Peter Dolan (Gaeil Colmcille). Evan has won many titles in his juvenile years but to hold all four singles championships in 2018 is a phenomenal achievement. Evan currently holds the Leinster Matchplay & Leinster Strokeplay, National Matchplay & National Strokeplay titles. Well done Evan and we look forward to seeing you play with the adults from next year.

There was a raffle on the night with some brilliant prizes which were all sponsored. To name a few of the winners:

Following our recent charity open in Ratoath, a total of €1,000 was raised. We would like to extend a sincere thank you to Ratoath for hosting this event and all the hard work they put into the course and the kitchen over the weekend of 5th - 7th Oct was very much appreciated. The chosen charity to receive the proceeds of this open was Meath River Rescue. We had Christopher Rennicks of Meath River Rescue present last night to receive the cheque from the Co. Board. Thanks to everyone who contributed in any way to this event which assisted in raising the funds for this well deserved charity.

Music followed and a great night was had by all.

We would like to offer a huge thank you to Navan Pitch and Putt Club for hosting this wonderful occasion with the use of their course, function room and bar. Thanks to everyone who participated in the scramble and to everyone who made the night such a great success We hope this is the start of a great tradition for years to come.
